Do You Experience God's Personal Presence?
When I walk into my house I see signs of my wife everywhere I go. I see that she has done the dishes. I see that she left me a sweet note in my closet. I see the latest lesson plan that she was working on. But a sign that she was present is not the same as her personal presence.
When she is with me, when I am experiencing her personal presence, I can see the brown fleck in her eyes, hear about her day, or learn about her fears or dreams.
When it comes to our spiritual awareness of God we see signs of him everywhere: in creation, in the unconditional love of parents for their kids, in the unity and diversity of marriage. But seeing signs of God is not the same as experiencing his personal presence.
When Jesus departed he gave the Holy Spirit as a gift to every person who turns from their sin and places their faith in Him.
“But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” - John 16:7
The Holy Spirit is God’s personal presence. He is invisible, powerful, and life-giving. Like the wind, or like breath.
Don’t settle for a sign of God’s existence, when He is willing to give you himself!
