If you’re going to win at life it’s going to take hard work.
And I don’t mean just winning at your job; everyone knows that takes hard work and dedication. I mean if you want to have influence with people, kids who like you, a wife who wants you, and lasting wealth, then it’s going to take some seriously hard work. Turns out it’s actually easier to be successful at a job than it is to be successful in relationships.
So why are you handicapping yourself by keeping college buddies in your life who are fools? Why do you keep foolish people in your life?
You make it harder for yourself to be passionate toward your wife when you have friend who is constantly talking about random women in sexual ways.
You make it harder for yourself to selflessly spend time with your kids when you have a friend who lives selfishly and brags about it.
You make it harder for yourself to be a man of integrity when you surround yourself with friends who haven’t yet reaped the consequences of their childish decisions.
You make it harder for yourself to live with self-control when you hang out with friends who are given to anger.
The Book of Proverbs says: “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”
Do the friends you have kept in your life help you win at life?
